Product Description
The 3100-MCM (PLC) and the 3150-MCM (SLC) Modbus Communication Modules are single slot solutions for the A-B 1771 and 1746 platforms. By providing configurable access to both ports, these products provide previously unavailable functionality and versatility.

Simple to Use
All module setup and operating control is performed over the backplane through simple ladder logic and data table configuration. The only software necessary is a standard ladder programming package.

Port Configuration
The two Modbus ports are configured independently, allowing the module to operate in any one of the following configurations: Master/Master, Master/Slave, and Slave/Slave. Once configured, the module will perform all protocol related functions on a stand alone basis.

NEW! Advanced Heater Diagnostics
When the Series 2000 instruments are used with the TE10S Contactors, complete heater diagnostics can be communicated to the Allen-Bradley PLC. This includes: heater amperage, fuse status, contactor health, and load health. The Eurotherm diagnostics are multiplexed onto the existing signal wires via the new PDSIO™ technology... a patented design by Eurotherm.

When the 2301 product is used, the PID control and SSR operate as one PID I/O block that can be installed anywhere on the machine. The 2301 uses the exact same communications capability as the Series 2000 products and the PDSIO heater diagnostics continue to monitor the health status of the SSR, heater and fuse while transmitting the amperage information to the ProSoft interface.

The TU SCR family is used when the PLC is supervising a high quantity of SCR power controllers such as in a paint drying production line. The PLC can use one ProSoft communications port to download setpoints and to monitor the SCRs which might be activating 10-50 infrared heaters.

Installation, Setup, and Operation
The ProSoft module capabilities are enabled and controlled with simple ladder logic and data table initialization. Each product is shipped with a user's manual detailing the installation and operation of the module. A sample ladder program is provided on disk in order to ease implementation an application note for these products is available, or is available off of the ProSoft ftp server:

• Continuous polling of command list (Master port)
• Support for the storage and transfer of up to 4000 registers to/from the PLC
